The Irish Crafter Blog

Welcome to The Irish Crafter

Procreate, pattern making, and everything in between

Hi, I'm Ruth! If you've landed here, you probably already know me from TikTok or Instagram, or maybe you picked up one of my brush sets. Either way, welcome. I'm really glad you're here.

I work shifts in my full-time job, so my time is always a bit unpredictable. But honestly, that's kind of what made me fall in love with crafting so much. You learn to grab the time when you get it.

How it all started

I started The Irish Crafter during Covid. Like a lot of people, I found myself with unexpected time at home and I decided to finally properly learn Procreate. I'd been curious about it for ages and just never sat down to figure it out.

Once I did, I was hooked. And the part I loved most wasn't just creating things, it was learning how to do something and then being able to show someone else how to do it too. That's really what this whole thing is built around.

I'm not an expert who figured it all out. I'm just a bit further along the path, and I think that's the most useful kind of teacher.

It's not just Procreate

Procreate is a massive part of what I do here, but my love of making things goes way back. I've always been into crafting in all its forms. Sewing, embroidery, Cricut, pattern making. The kind of stuff where you sit down, you make something, and at the end of it there's a thing that didn't exist before. I love that.

What I find so exciting about digital design is that it connects back to all of that. Something I draw on my iPad can end up on fabric, on a card, on a product. The gap between digital and physical is a lot smaller than people think, and that's something I want to explore a lot more on here.

What this blog is going to be

Honestly, a mix of things. Procreate tutorials and tips. How to take your digital designs and actually use them in the real world. Resources for making, creating, and even earning from your art. And the things I'm learning as I go, because this has never been about having all the answers.

I'm building this alongside you, and I think that's kind of the whole point.

So, welcome to the blog. I hope you stick around.

Ruth
